WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib (MI-13) released the following statement regarding the Senate vote to acquit President Donald Trump on charges of abuse of power and obstruction:

“Senate Republicans have failed our country and the American people. By acquitting President Trump, they have condoned his abuse of power, corruption, and bribery. At a time in our country when we needed courageous leadership to protect our democracy and uphold the U.S. Constitution, these senators let us down in the worst way. Regardless of their shameful and cowardly actions, though, the American people know the truth: President Trump is and will forever be an impeached president. I commend our House Impeachment managers for their masterful prosecution of the case for removing him from office and while it may not have happened today, I am confident he will be. In the meantime, I will continue to rise up against and resist his backward policies, rhetoric, and initiatives on behalf of the residents of 13th District Strong and every American who believes no one is above the law.”
