WASHINGTON, D.C. — On Thursday, Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib (MI-12) released the following statement regarding the Republican Party’s inability to elect a Speaker of the House:

“The Republican Party continues to show us what they are really about: partisan, far-right policies that will only continue to divide our country, with no ability to govern or plan to give every person the opportunities they need to thrive. Let’s be clear: incredibly, Trumper Kevin McCarthy is not extreme enough for many of his colleagues in the House, which should trouble us all.

“Instead of going into what is now day three of votes on the typically simple task of selecting a Speaker of the House, we should be advancing legislation that brings us together and improves the quality of life for every person in our country.

“My office remains open. My team and I are continuing to deliver constituent services that impact the daily lives of our neighbors in the 12th Congressional District. We will continue to serve our residents, even as the GOP continues to fight among themselves.”
