DETROIT – Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib (MI-13) released the following statement following Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s statement on the two-year investigation on Russian interference in the 2016 election:

“There are two things to take away from Robert Mueller’s statement today: President Trump was NOT cleared of wrongdoing in this investigation and we must fulfill our Constitutional responsibility as Congress to investigate this President through an impeachment inquiry.

“President Trump and those around him have been mired in lawless activity before and after he entered the Oval Office, from the Mueller investigation to inhumane activity at the Southern border to the constant obstruction of congressional investigations, subpoenas, and numerous conflicts of interest in decision-making.

“Robert Mueller said it himself, ‘The Constitution requires a process outside the criminal justice system to accuse a sitting president of wrongdoing.’ That process is impeachment.

“This President must be held accountable and it is our duty and responsibility to investigate him thoroughly. We must see the full unredacted Mueller Report, see the underlying evidence behind it, hear from Mueller himself, and, most importantly, start an impeachment inquiry immediately to bring true transparency and accountability on behalf of the American people.”
