DETROIT – Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib (MI-13) released the following statement regarding UAW workers’ nationwide GM strike. Rep. Tlaib has GM facilities in her district, including plants in Romulus and the recently idled Detroit/Hamtramck-Poletown Assembly:

"I stand in solidarity with the auto workers across this country fighting for a better quality of life. Many families across the 13th Congressional District work or have families that are supported by workers at General Motors. Auto workers at GM have consistently stood up to help the company stay afloat and reach billions in profits. This is the time for GM to put people first and reject the disease of corporate greed - GM needs to take care of its workers now. I stand with the workers in this important step in the fight for dignity and fairness and I call on others to wrap their arms around them in this brave action. When organized labor does well, we all do well. It is my hope that the UAW and GM quickly come to agreement that provides fair wages and quality benefits.”
